This is useful for things like.
Rimworld fix roof.
Colonists can build structures of a various materials each with different beauty flammability and hit points.
A build roof area will cause pawns to build a roof in the specified area.
I have tried building even a small 5x5 room and it still does not roof up.
Enclosed areas will automatically prompt colonists to build a roof unless you apply a no roof region or if the structure is too large over 300 cells.
A remove roof area will cause pawns to remove any roofs in a given area.
So in my case i had expanded the room and 20 of it was left unroofed.
I built a buidling with walls and floors and a door but for some reason it has no roof.
The workers only built the floor and walls and doors but still no roof.

Keep in mind each roof tile needs to be within 6 range of a wall to not collapse.
I quite regularly have spaces that have a 21x21 open space on the inside with just a single wall in the center and i never have issues with the roof collapsing.

It seems the roof building is triggered only upon completion of an enclosed room.
How to remove thick roofs overhead mountain use the regular remove roof area option found in the architect zone area menu to draw an orange area above the roof you want to remove.

Structures leave ash on the ground when burnt.
A ignore roof area will cause pawns to not alter the roof in a specified area.
It can be quite a bit larger than that and still not fall in.
